Baxter: Hoopcamp Instructor 2017
Baxter (Website, FB, YouTube & @hooppatherbaxter) has been hooping since 2001. In 2004, he was featured in The Hooping Life documentary. At home in North Carolina, Baxter began teaching a local hoop class in 2005. From those weekly classes, he developed a hoop dance curriculum called “The HoopPath”. Since 2006 The HoopPath way of hoop dance has been taught all over the US, Canada, the UK, and some parts of Europe. In addition to his traveling teaching, Baxter threw his own national hoop dance retreat in North Carolina every June for 10 years. The HoopPath curriculum emphasizes and encourages self-exploration and self-expression combined with full body awareness and movement.
After 12 years of teaching hoop dance as a career, Baxter is retiring from being a traveling hoop teacher so we’re super excited to have him with us at Hoopcamp this year. Although, he will still be hooping everyday and teaching locally, Baxter plans to pursue other artistic and career interests after this year and to spend more time at home.
The Big Spin In
I am so honored to say that this will be my 8th time opening Hoop Camp! Long ago, we realized that a great way to bring everyone together on the same vibe was to have an opening in which everyone could hoop together. For this year’s Opening, I’ll lead us through some of my favorite HoopPath exercises and concepts for helping people find their confidence and authenticity. I’ll loosely guide you as you get your groove on to fresh music across many different genres too. This will be fun!
