Michelle Nayeli: Hoop Vinyasa

Hoop Vinyasa

Experience a unique form of mind-body-awareness training using a hoop and Prana Flow-inspired vinyasa sequences. Integration of the Hoop invites greater opening throughout the body, while honing one’s sensitivity, balance, and embodiment of energetic alignment. Inspired by Shiva Rea’s Prana Danda Flow, a circular hoop reveals alignment and energy flow through shape rather than spinning in the dance. All levels.

BIO:

Michelle Nayeli lives for that nameless connection to the ecstatic divine which we often call ‘flow’. A life-long dancer-yogini turned hoop-devotee at first sight of Spiral rockin’ in 2005, Nayeli has taught Yoga, AcroYoga, and Hoopdance at studios, festivals, and on the road for the past 15 years. She is a teacher trainer on the faculties of Avāhana School of Yoga & Expressive Healing Arts, Balanced Action Yoga, Hoop Vinyasa, and the Wanderlust Yoga Teacher Training. She is grateful to her Maha teachers~ Mother Earth, Shiva Rea- whom she assists regularly, John Friend, Tias Little, Tim Miller, and the global AcroYoga tribe, for her thousands of hours of training and endless inspiration. Michelle offers a variety of practices that synthesize Tantric philosophy, intelligent biomechanics, and the universality of dance as pathways toward the state of ‘yoga’. She believes we can reach the state of yoga in many ways, dance being possibly the most universal embodied way humans connect to something greater, whether our own essence or the shared experience of the collective. Her message is one of intimacy with life, wisdom of natural patterns, somatic sustainability, playfulness and presence within the flow.

Michelle Nayeli: Circle Sadhana

 Circle Sadhana
A Deha Sadhana is a daily ritual practice of connection (yoga) of the body (deha), entered into as an honoring and connection to our unique embodiment of divine awareness. We learn from Nature, life, the cosmos, and everything in existence that the most fundamental movements are those of the spiral, wave, and rhythmic pulsation.

In rhythm is the power of consciousness, nature’s creative capacity. In pulsation we can make the most change in dissolving habitual patterns of body and of the mind. In curvilinear space, we speak to the deepest geometries of the physical body. In this session we will explore movements that flow, pulse, cycle, repeat and move in the ways Nature moves: in curves, spirals, rhythm and undulations. Class will be playful, joyful, and creative for all levels.

Caterina Suttin: “Rockin’ and Rollin”

“Rockin’ and Rollin”
This year at Hoopcamp I am trilled to share a rolls workshop. Focusing primarily on hand rolls and the many variations that can be explored with such a simple and subtle trick.  We will play with many combinations and transitions that include, but are not limited to Isolations, cat-eye Isolations and extensions. We will also play with a full contact body rolls as well as the many ways we can interrupt the hoops journey on the body to add extra rotations only to place the hoop back on the body to complete to roll from another location. In my opinion few things feel as good as a clean full body contact roll with a hoop and this technique is something I am trilled to share. We will also touch on a few horizontal body rolls and coin roll variation.
BIO:
Caterina Suttin is Hoop Dance performer and teacher and she has been touring the USA, Mexico, Asia and Europe since early 2012. She was voted co-female hooper of the year and fire hooper of the year in Hooping.org‘s 2014  Hoopie Awards. Caterina has attended Hoopcamp several times is each time it had been a truly transformational event for her. Caterina has been hooping actively since July 2009 and it has completely changed her life and taken her further then she could have ever imagined.
Caterina Suttin started making jewelry many years before she started hooping and the crossover between her arts is really quite amazing. They are both outlets for the same magic spiral inspired energy. She was first inspired to make jewelry by the Artisans in Mexico and various parts of Central and South America. Starting with beading and macrame, Caterina discovered a love for seeing her work displayed on her friends and family members. In 2003 Caterina was introduced to wire work and to this day she is constantly amazed by how much is possible. It is per passion.
Her intention when wrapping stones is to enhance their natural beauty, allowing their textures, colors and shapes to guide their transformation into wearable art. With every piece she creates, she discovered new ways of creating ornate patterns with wire, while allowing herself to continuously be inspired by many different cultures, arts and types of jewelry from all over the world.
