Briana Kai- Roots Reggae, Funk and World beat

LIVE MUSIC with Briana Kai at our HOOPJAMS
Growing up in Santa Cruz, Califronia amongst the redwood and oak tree forests and the vast pacific ocean, Briana Kai’s music reflects her free spirit with a fusion of roots reggae, funk and world beat. As a samba, salsa, and belly dancer, her music has diverse influence of latin grooves and ethnic rhythms to get you to dance, move and shake. After recording in Jamaica with Junior Reid, the track “Day by Day”, co-written by Briana Kai and her father Stormin Norman (of the Santa Cruz local legend band ‘Stormin Norman and the Cyclones’), she toured with Junior Reid in California, and Hawaii sharing the stage with Katchafire, and Fiji. While shooting the video for “Day by Day” in Kingston, Jamaica, Briana performed the song along side Junior Reid in a concert for peace in Tivoli Gardens sharing the stage with Taurus Riley and other Jamaican talent. Briana Kai has also sang for the ‘Pure Roots’ band and opened for Israel Vibration, Black Uhuru, The Melodians, Don Carlos, Michael Rose, and The Wailing Souls. Having spent time in India and Nepal shooting a documentry “Stuck in Kathmandu” of her journey to take her grandfather’s ashes to the Valley of Flowers in India, Briana blends her worldy experience of culture with her musical influence from her dad, Stormin Norman’s background of classic rock n roll, blues and folk, into soulful songs to open every heart, inspire all to dance and enjoy every moment in this life. To play music is a blessing, and Briana Kai is grateful to share the positive vibrations of peace, love, joy and harmony with all beings everywhere.
